A right-handed wicket-keeper-batter, he captains Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League and Kerala in domestic. He was a part of the Indian team which won the 2024 T20 World Cup. He made his international debut in 2015 in a T20 international against Zimbabwe.
He is the only player to score three centuries in T20 internationals in a calendar year (2024). He is the first Indian wicket keeper to score a century in a T20 international. He is also the first Indian to score two consecutive centuries in T20 Internationals.
He was the vice-captain of the Indian U-19 team for the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his One Day International debut in 2021 again
